SOME History
On 22 September 1878, the young Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson's hand walking on Monastier Gazeille (Haute Loire) Modestine with the donkey. 12 days, 220 km and many adventures later, he arrived in St Jean du Gard. His travel journal, published in 1879 under the title "Travels with a Donkey in the Cevennes", was read and loved by generations of readers as "Treasure Island" and "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Stevenson's footsteps are followed with delight by many walkers, with or without ass.In 1994, the association "The Path to RL Stevenson was born: its aim is to promote and to support this route through a network of solidarity tourism stakeholders.Stevenson Relays offer accommodation, catering, donkeys, accompanying hiking, etc. ... They all have one thing in common: they are on, or near Stevenson Trail (GR 70) and they work together to offer a real quality product.
