loire.fr)..Concern about the flow of support on the Loire basin,
appears in the 1970s with the development of irrigation and equipment
in nuclear power plants. It was during this period that the state
retains the proposed construction of two dams and Naussac Villerest.
Project management of the dam Naussac said "development Naussac
I" was granted by the State at SOMIVAL, development company
under his tutelage. Dam Naussac was commissioned in 1983.
The annual average intake in the reservoir is insufficient to ensure
filling each year, the Loire River (formerly EPALA) decided to take
over the project Naussac 2. Planned from the outset, it consisted
of the realization of a pumped storage power plant, intended to
complete the filling of the reservoir by pumping in the Allier.
Constructed under the project management of property, plant was
commissioned in 1997. At the end of the concession by SOMIVAL in
2003 and after a trial period of three years, the state owns the
facilities Naussac I had transferred their ownership to the property
on 1 January 2007. The property thus became the sole manager of
the dam and mill. This gravity dam with a height of 50 meters, is
equipped with a water intake tower, to channel water to the pump
storage plant and a hollow jet valve. The principles of water management
facilities (maximum score, rules pumping variation rules of outflow
...) are defined in the regulation of water, stopped by the State
after a public inquiry. The support of low flowsNaussac function
is to maintain a minimum flow in the Allier and the Loire, in periods
of low water to allow the fulfillment of various water uses. (Villerest
Dam, near Roanne, also owned by the Loire River, provides the same
function on the Loire).
